ALBANY, GA --

The second preliminary turtle race took place at the Riverquarium early Saturday.

Over one thousand turtles whisked down the water filled steps on the side of the building.

The first turtle toy to cross the finish line won five hundred dollars; last month’s winner is was Judy Randle.

Attendees had more than just the Riverquarium to keep them occupied. Vicki Churchman noted, “today we had some face painters and airbrush tattoo artists. The Levee came over and did some live music for us and we had some art activities for the kids. It was a great opportunity for folks to get out".

All the turtles from both preliminary races will also be entered in the main Flint Riverquarium turtle race which will be held March 3 at 4 PM. This is all a part of Rock, Roll and Run weekend; The grand prize awarded in the main race will be five thousand dollars.
