Nine killed on Interstate 75

ALBANY, GA -- If you plan on traveling south on I-75, you may want to wait awhile.

Florida officials believe hazy fog and heavy smoke from a brush fire caused several vehicle crashes that killed at least nine people in Alachua County.

The accidents happening on both sides of the interstate just south of Gainesville, Florida.

All lanes are closed as investigators try to figure out exactly what caused the wrecks.

Highway patrol officials say up to five commercial vehicles and six passenger cars were involved.

More than a dozen people are being treated at area hospitals for their injuries.
