ALBANY, GA -- It may not be spring but pollen season is definitely here.

Many southwest Georgia drivers were greeted with a thick coat of the yellow stuff on their cars Thursday morning.

Scientist attributes this spectacle to our abnormally warm weather.

Pine pollen may be a nuisance for those trying to keep their cars clean, but for the most part, it won't bother many who suffer from allergies.

“The pine pollen isn't a huge allergen. Some people do suffer from it, but for the most part, it's just troublesome because it gets on everything,” said FOX 31 Chief Meteorologist Mike Morrison.

Other types of pollen are known to cause allergy issues such as sneezy, itchy, and watery eyes.

Morrison says if the weather continues to be warm in southwest Georgia, the pollen count will stay up.
