ALBANY, GA -- Dougherty County Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard talked about his trip to speak with legislators in Atlanta at Monday's commission meeting.
Two weeks ago, he went to help lobby in favor of repealing the energy tax where industries are taxed for the energy they consume.
This affects industries in Albany such as Proctor and Gamble, one of the largest energy consumers in the state.
Sinyard says they are confident it will pass during the current 40-day session of congress.
“Whether it's phased in over two years, three years, five years or longer is yet to be seen, you obviously have to have revenue on the other side of the coin to balance that,” says Sinyard.
Representatives say Georgia receives over $160 million a year from the energy tax.
