ALBANY, GA (AP) -- The Albany State University Lecture Series will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thursday, January 12, at 9:50 a.m. in the ACAD Auditorium.
Activist, author and lecturer Ms. Ilyasah Al-Shabazz will be the keynote speaker at the MLK Day Convocation. Her father martyred human rights activist Malik Al-Shabazz, widely known as Malcolm X and her mother, Dr. Betty Shabazz, educator and advocate for women’s rights are revered as two of the most important human rights leaders in the
Shabazz is dedicated to preserving the Shabazz family legacy of service to humanity and to developing educational programs that foster self-empowerment.
Shabazz is the author of “Growing Up X and President of the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial Education Center.
The convocation is open to the community. The program is funded by Title III
