ALBANY, GA -- Changes to the city charter in 2010 now make it mandatory for assistant city attorneys to be appointed by the commission.

But what about the assistant city attorneys in place already?

City Attorney Nathan Davis went before the commission Tuesday to request that they appoint current Assistant City Attorney Jenise Smith, who has been with the office since 2008.

Davis says she is well qualified to continue serving.

“Jenise is an integral part of the office, she really functions as one of our lead litigators and has had super duper results in court and the dispositions have been very favorable to the city.”

The city will make their appointments at their night meeting January 25th.
