Updated: Dawson Police Chief says Amos Wallace's application is now a "moot issue"
Amos Wallace was arrested on two counts of child molestation.

Dawson Police Chief Charlie Whitehead says because of recent events, Amos Wallace's application will no longer be considered for the patrol officer position at the station, saying his application is now a "moot issue."
Whitehead says they were in the process of wrapping up Wallace's background check prior to his arrest.

Dougherty County police arrested Amos Wallace, 27, on two counts of child molestation late Tuesday night. Officials say Wallace is a former Albany police officer and former Albany State University police officer.
Tuesday morning at 11 a.m., DCP responded to a residence regarding a child molestation complaint. Dougherty County police say an investigation found enough evidence to arrest Wallace, a resident of the same home.
Police transported Wallace to the Dougherty County Jail and charged him with child molestation.
Albany police officials say Wallace resigned from Albany Police Department and was terminated from the Albany State Police Department. DCP officials say he was currently in the process of being hired by the Dawson Police Department.
