ALBANY, GA -- Authorities have confirmed that shots were fired in the 1100 block of Butternut Ave. Police on the scene investigating say that  man was test firing his rifle in the woods near the street.

The gunfire prompted a Code Red shutdown of nearby Martin Luther King and Lamar Reese Elementary schools. The Code Red shutdown was lifted after noon according to DCSS.
