Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital is allowing its employees and the public to sign a beam for their new Digestive Disease Center

ALBANY, GA -- Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital’s new Digestive Disease Center is nearly 30 percent complete, but before they finish construction they are letting the community be a part of the building.

The last beam for the building is on display outside of Phoebe’s main campus on Jefferson Avenue for employees and the community to sign.

"The building will stand for at least the next 50 years and during this phase you like to recognize the workers, give them an opportunity to make their mark on the facility as well as give an opportunity for the citizens of the community to take part after all this is a community building," says David Smith, Director of Construction Management.

Employees and the public have until Wednesday December 14 at 5 p.m. to sign the beam.

The Topping Out – or when the last beam is placed – will be on Thursday, Dec. 15 at Phoebe’s Meredyth Drive campus starting at 10:15 a.m.
