ALBANY, GA -- A local industry is giving back to the community by allowing students to have easier access to financial aid.
American Proteins, a chicken processing plant in Cuthbert, donated $6,500 to Albany Technical College.
President, Dr. Anthony Parker says it will help students who don't necessarily make the grade for other grants.
“Some of our programs are relatively demanding so a student with a 2.7, 2.8, 2.9 GPA is doing good work, but may not have the financial aid to see them through the program,” says Parker.
This is the sixth year American Proteins has donated to Albany Tech and over 70 students have benefited.
