WORTH CO., GA. -- Updated 11/2/11 at 2:30 p.m.

Sad news concerning the wreck that Georgia State Patrol worked in Worth County Tuesday night.

The driver of the 2008 Kia Optima involved in the crash has died.

Officers say alcohol was a factor.

68-year-old Patricia Buchanan was driving her 2008 Kia Optima east on Georgia 32 when she ran the stop sign, crossing southbound and northbound lanes of highway 300.

A flatbed truck traveling north on 300 swerved to miss her, but hit the Kia broadside.

Buchanan was taken to Phoebe Putney Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Worth County investigators are looking into a wreck that sent at least one person to the hospital.

The accident happened at the intersection of 300 and highway 82 in Worth County where a semi-truck and a vehicle collided.

The semi-truck landed on the passenger side of the road, while the car came to a stop on the median.

The Worth County Sheriff's Department is working the case.
