ALBANY, GA -- In today's Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know 'does drinking increase during times of high unemployment?'

According to a study from the University of Miami, the answer is yes.

Psychologist Dr. Nick Carden says the pressure that comes with being unemployed is sometimes too much for people to take.

“It's a problem that people sometimes don't have an answer for. So when they don't want to face the music so to speak, they can't deal with the feelings internally, then we all have a tendency to engage in some kind of behavior that helps distract us,” says Carden.

With drinking, he says you're exchanging one problem for two--not only are you unemployed, but now you may also have a drinking problem to deal with.
