Nathaniel Taylor's murder conviction and life sentences was upheld for the 2005 shooting death of Lewis Anthony West
ALBANY, GA -- The Georgia Supreme Court upheld the murder conviction and life prison sentence for Nathaniel Taylor. Taylor was convicted in 2006 for malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault in relation to the shooting death of Lewis Anthony West on Oct. 21, 2005.
According to court documents, West and Taylor – also known as “Reddy B” – got into an argument because Taylor believed West stole marijuana from him. Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards says it was a "drug transaction that went bad" and that Taylor was seeking retribution against Lewis.
Edwards says Oct. 21, 2005, in the 200 block of Jackson Street, West was ambused and shot; he says Lewis made a dying declaration to a police officer, telling him “Freddy B” shot him. West died as a result of his wounds.
The documents also say that Taylor admitted to the crime to a cellmate in the Dougherty County Jail.
