ALBANY, GA -- Supporters of 2012 Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul took to the streets with signs between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. local time on Monday to raise awareness for their candidate.

“We all want to spread the word because we're all in the same boat, we all want the liberty we all want the freedom to do what we want,” says Jason Ward of Southwest Georgia for Ron Paul.

Wind and a threat of rain didn’t stop local Ron Paul followers from participating in the “sign bomb.”

“I actually posted something earlier on Facebook and it said 'Though it may rain, snow, sleet or hail, the voice of liberty shall prevail,” says Ashley Branch with Southwest Georgia for Ron Paul.

Southwest Georgia for Ron Paul is a local group that is proving a place for Paul supporters as well as aiming to spread awareness about the presidential hopeful and his issues.

“This is our first big event, we've been meeting for the last couple of months planning this, we're also looking… there's a bunch of stuff going on downtown here lately, we're looking to get into that,” says Branch, who adds that they also want to get a booth at the local fair.

On Monday, one driver rode by their display of signs and spontaneously pulled over to hold up one themselves. Branch says they are also receiving a lot of feedback, help and support on their Facebook page.

“We've got one guy who just joined up on Saturday. He Googled ‘Albany Georgia Ron Paul,’ found our page and showed up at our meeting,” says Branch.

Unpredictable weather didn’t stop their event on Monday, and neither are poll numbers that put Paul near the bottom of the republican presidential candidate race.

“I think it's unfair to say that he's the underdog or something like that because he has a lot of strong, consistent support much like his message,” says Ward.

Branch says, “They're not taking into account the democrat voters that were disillusioned by Obama, they're not taking into account the independent voters and I think he's got those voters wrapped up.”

Ward says they have faith in Paul as a Republican Presidential Candidate and faith that he will make a difference.

“You either go ahead and stop and fix it now or else there's just going to be many more years of all this corruption and chaos going on and more of us getting together like this trying to stop it,” he says.
