ALBANY, GA -- On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Albany State University College of Business and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) will partner with the Strive2Thrive program to launch “Taking the College to the Community—in An Effort to Stomp out Poverty.”

The “Taking the College to the Community” was started because many families were having difficulty finding employment. By seeking help from business professionals and students at Albany State University, the collaboration began to give those families the opportunity to learn more about entrepreneurship.

ASU professors from the College of Business will conduct workshops on business etiquette, conflict resolution, professional dress, communication skills and other topics at the weekly meetings.

SIFE students will also assist GED professors as tutors for subjects in mathematics, reading, and writing as part of the weekly program.

The workshops will be held Thursdays, from 6-8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church located at 307 Flint Ave. in downtown Albany.
