Albany Parks and Rec and Youth Becoming Healthy held a day of fun as a part of Worldwide Day of Play

ALBANY, GA -- Albany Parks and Recreation held a celebration for Worldwide Day of Play. The event encouraged parents, kids and even neighbors to get outside and spend time together.

On Friday, the U.S. Congress officially declared this date, Sept. 24, as Worldwide Day of Play, but the day of fun has been going on since 2004.

Albany Parks and Rec also teamed up with Youth Becoming Healthy (YBH): A local organization working to combat childhood obesity. It's the third year YBH helped with the Day of Play. At the event, YBH wanted to encourage more kids to play outside, visit local parks and be active.

On Saturday, kids of all ages and families enjoyed activities like a potato sack race, crafts and dancing.
