New unemployment numbers show more Georgians are unemployed

The Georgia Department of Labor released new numbers for unemployment.

Looking at the time period of July 2011 compared to August 2011 the Department of Labor reports that the state, region, and metro area’s numbers made a small increase.

That state’s unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a point from 10.1% to 10.2%.

Southwest Georgia’s unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a point from 10.3% to 10.4%.

Metro Albany’s rate follows the same increase moving up from 10.7% to 10.8%.

The national unemployment rate remains the same at 9.1%.
