ALBANY, GA. -- Albany fire officials are looking into the cause of a house fire that started in the 800 block of Dorsett Avenue.

When they arrived on the scene a little after 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, officials found flames shooting from the back of the home.

Firefighters for the Albany Fire Department contained the blaze and called in an investigator.

“The structure appears to be vacant. We have a fire investigator here now trying to determine the cause of it,” said Albany Fire Department Assistant Chief Allen Cravey, “We did a primary search to make sure nobody was inside and we have not been able to locate anybody.”

Upon initial review, he says the fire burned about 30 to 40 percent of the structure.
