A former Dougherty County Commissioner, who was incarcerated for money laundering in 1993, announced Saturday his plans for run for city commissioner.
At a press conference Saturday afternoon, Victor Edwards, son of County Commissioner Muarlean Edwards, addressed his past in federal prison and says he is a mature man now and ready to enter back into politics.
If given the opportunity, he hopes to clean up what he now calls "the hood"--trying to get ADICA façade grants for Ward VI.
“Like I said, extend the boundary lines for ADICA funds cause the boundary lines are at Highland and I want to be able to extend those lines and see what can be done for the process of applying for those funds to help all small businesses, not just downtown development,” said Edwards.
He will be running against current Ward VI Commissioner Tommie Postell.
Edwards served as county commissioner from 1984 to 1993.
