ALBANY, GA -- Times may be tough, but some Southwest Georgians made time for a night of comedy all while helping a good cause.

The SOWEGA Council on Aging held its sixth annual Comedy Night on Thursday. The evening of laughs supports their Meals on Wheels program.

Last year SOWEGA Council on Aging raised nearly $30,000 for the program, which will go towards the more than 700 meals the organization serves per day to senior citizens in the 14 surrounding counties.

“The meals run about four or five dollars a piece depending on what we're doing, and I can say whatever we raise goes directly to the meals,” says Executive Director Kay Hind.

Comedy Night featured an act by Carl Hurley, also known as “America’s Funniest Professor.”
