Dougherty County Police are investigating a child abuse case.

DCP was contacted by DFACS (Department of Family and Children Services) from Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta about an 11-week old baby boy that was transferred there from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

At this time DCP investigators are interviewing family members to get more information about how the child got the injuries.

No arrests have been made and Chief Don Cheek says “at this time I cannot confirm or deny how the child sustained the injuries and this case is still under investigation.  We’re trying to sort out the case and we will let you know when more information is available.  We did have investigators travel to Atlanta to look further into this case”.
