Updated with video; Library for blind and handicapped changes name and expands services to Lee and Dougherty County.

BAINBRIDGE, GA -- The Bainbridge Subregional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped is proud to announce that its new name is Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services.

The library now serves 22 counties in Southwest Georgia, which are Baker, Brooks, Calhoun, Clay, Colquitt, Decatur, Dougherty, Echols, Early, Grady, Lanier, Lee, Lowndes, Miller, Mitchell, Quitman, Randolph, Seminole, Terrell, Thomas, Webster, and Worth counties. Patrons in Dougherty, Lee, and Worth Counties were previously served by the Middle Georgia Subregional Library in Macon.

Patrons of the South Georgia Regional Library System will have direct access to a deposit collection of materials at their local library and other services that were formerly available at Valdosta Subregional Library will be available at SWGLAS.

The Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services continues to provide the same excellent service, but now serves a larger area. Books and magazines on cassette tapes and digital format, reference, readers’ advisory and other services are available at the Southwest Georgia Library for Accessible Services for those who cannot hold, handle, or see well enough to read materials printed by conventional methods due to a temporary or permanent handicap.
