People who live in the Chokee District of Lee County say their well problems are behind them.

ALBANY, GA. -- Now that southwest Georgia is getting some rain, folks living in the Chokee District of Lee County say their water problems are well behind them.

Back in June, they were forced to use pool water because of dried wells. Those whose wells had been fixed helped out others by filling five gallon jugs with water to use for household chores.

Ruth spell says her pool is now filled to capacity. She says recent rains have been a great help.

“It makes you feel better knowing that the ground is being saturated and hopefully you're not going to come to that place again where you're going to have to go 200 more feet down to reach a well because of the drought and everything,” said Lee County homeowner Ruth Spell, “So, when it rains, yes it's refreshing.”

Ruth says water is now restored to everyone in the neighborhood.
