ALBANY, GA -- The Lee County Commission approved sales tax bonds at their meeting Tuesday.
Part of the $3.35 million in tax-anticipation bonds will be used to purchase an 800-megahertz communications system.
The new system will be digital, replacing their outdated analog system that's in place now.
"It enables us to communicate not only amongst ourselves for public safety, but other communities, other surrounding areas that have 800 and it's really gonna benefit us in the event we'll need some mutual aid," said Bobby Watkins, Director of the Lee County EMS.
The new system will allow them to talk with virtually any county in the state.
