One local mechanic says yes, but there's a catch.
Can driving with my windows down save on gas and money?
ALBANY, GA -- For the Facebook Story of the Day, fans wanted to know if rolling windows down actually saves on gas.
Mechanics at Goodlife Tires on Oglethorpe Blvd. said it could save you money and gas by leaving windows down, but there is a catch.
Leaving the windows rolled down places a pull on the vehicle, so that burns a little more fuel. This makes the difference between riding with the air conditioner on or riding with windows down not that great.
Chris Basko, owner of Goodlife Tires, said it doesn't make much of a difference but riding with windows down could still save you a small amount.
