Several groups are being recognized locally and nationally this week.

They were all presented with a proclamation at Monday's Dougherty County Commission meeting.

The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce was there as Dougherty County chairman Jeff Sinyard and Mayor Willie Adams proclaimed this as 'Small Business Week' in Albany and Dougherty County.

It was also National Emergency Medical Services Week.

EMS Director Bobby Tripp was on hand to receive that proclamation.

And Larry Cook, Director of Dougherty County Public Works accepted the proclamation for National Public Works Week.

County Public Works also officially opened up their new headquarters on Newton Road, not far from their old station.

County commissioners toured the facility after their morning meeting.

Public Works moved from a 3,000 square foot facility to a 7,000 foot facility, allowing employees to spread out a little.

The new facility is a one million dollar project paid for by SPLOST V funds.
