ALBANY, GA -- In our Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know what the job outlook is for soon to be college graduates.

1.6 million students are expected to graduate this year. That includes about 356 from Albany State University that will graduate tomorrow. But as the walk off the stage, they're going to be walking into a tough job market.

“It's a major concern but at least you have the first step which is an education,” said Robert Taylor.

New numbers released Friday show that 9 percent of Americans are without work, now many of these newlygrads will be entering that pool.

“It takes about 1.5 percent or 2 percent growth in our economy just to absorb all those new people and if we don't grow every month folks have difficulty getting jobs,” said Albany State University business professor Dr. Michael Rogers.

Even though the latest numbers suggest a pretty tough job market for these soon to be grads, the ones we talked to don't seemed too concerned about it. In fact they are downright confident.

“I think it's a great chance of getting a job right now. Considering my major, which is nursing,” said Jessica Hill.

“I've had numerous internships. I know a lot of people in this area and other areas so I think I can sell myself pretty well,” said Jerome Smiley Jr.

“Almost everywhere is looking for teachers, so I will be pretty good with finding a job,” said Sarah Mack.

And maybe they should be confident, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the job market is actually the best it's been for college graduates since 2008, but getting those jobs may be a waiting game.

“Graduates from Albany State and other universities are getting jobs. It takes longer for them to get those jobs. We have to start earlier in building networks,” said Dr. Rogers.

In a recent survey employers said they plan to hire an average of 19 percent more college graduates than they did last year.
