Administrator: Marshall Wilcox was terminated Wednesday morning after being indicted for child molestation
LEE COUNTY, GA -- A Lee County employee was terminated Wednesday morning after an indictment cited him for child molestation.
“Based on the results of that investigation and the results of the indictment and the results of the subsequent arrest, today we terminated Mr. Wilcox from Lee County Government,” said Lee County Administrator Tony Massey.
On Tuesday, a grand jury handed down the indictment. Marshall Wilcox is in custody from an incident occurring between June and September of 2010. Wilcox held the position of zoning administrator.
The indictment states Wilcox is accused of an indecent act with a child under the age of 16-years-old with the intent to arouse and satisfy himself.
More charges could be coming after agents seized his car, and several computers. According to warrants, they believe Wilcox may have child porn on the hard drives.
He had been suspended from his job with the Lee County Planning and Zoning Department six weeks ago when they found out was under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
"We received evidence that he had committed an act of molestation and we presented those facts to the grand jury and they presented an indictment," said Chief Assistant D.A. Lewis Lamb.
