Darton Village South to house 250 students

ALBANY, GA. -- Some Albany college students will soon have a new place to call their ‘home away from home.’

Darton College held its ‘topping out’ ceremony today for the latest addition to its student housing facilities - Darton Village South.

The 100,000 square foot complex cost 10 million dollars and will include 250 beds, community rooms, and kitchens.

Officials say a weak economy is driving many people back to school.

"The major institutions are overcrowded so that’s sending more students to the smaller campuses and even the commuter colleges," said Les Juneau of Juneau Construction.

Darton Village South is scheduled to open this July.
