ALBANY, GA -- Albany Animal Control has removed a dog from its 9th avenue home, after it bit an officer.

Police say an officer was responding as back-up to a domestic dispute at 525 9th Avenue, when he was told by residents to go to the neighbor’s home. The officer then went to the back of 523 9th Avenue and encountered a dog.

Officers say the dog attacked the officer when he entered the backyard, biting him in the left leg. The officer shot his gun twice, however did not hit the animal. The officer was sent to the hospital for observation; the dog was taken to animal control. Police are still investing the case.
