Burglar stole bingo money

ALBANY, GA. -- Albany police are investigating an unusual overnight smash and grab burglary.

The cook for the SOWEGA Council on Aging arrived at work around 5:00am and was greeted by broken glass and missing cash.

Someone gained entry through an outside window and made off with around $250.

Officials with SOWEGA say the crime is especially disturbing because it targeted the most vulnerable members of the community.

"They’re stealing from people that probably could be their grandparents or great grandparents and to me, that makes it really bad," said Angela Smith of SOWEGA.

Part of the stolen money was rolled quarters in bingo money.
