Officials at the Salvation Army say they are in a critical situation heading into 2011

ALBANY, GA -- Officials at the Salvation Army say they are in a critical situation heading into 2011.

The Albany chapter is asking for the community to help. They need cash donations to continue helping the community. Officials say they have big plans for next year, but need money to pull them off.

“We’re definitely looking at improving the service offered at the Place for Hope. We're looking at offering lockers and some long range assistance programs as well as expanding our resource center. Also another service that we need desperately in Albany is transitional housing for men,” said Capt. Doug McClure.

The Salvation Army says donating items to their general store also helps out a lot. They also need toiletries for people at their shelters.
