400 people ran or walked a 3.1 mile course through downtown Albany
ALBANY, GA. -- It was a little chilly out this morning, but that didn't stop 300 runners and 50 walkers from participating in the 3rd annual River Front Run this morning.
Children, teens, adults, seniors, and a few people dressed up in costume participated in the 3.1 mile race.
The Dougherty County Medical Society sponsored the race and say it’s important to get out the message that exercise is medicine. Deborah Trammell, a pathologist at Palmyra Medical Center and past President of the Dougherty County Medical Society says numerous health care professionals participated in the race. “We wanted to sponsor the race again to get out the word that exercise really can reduce your risk factors for a lot of diseases like heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, and more. There are a lot of chronic diseases that it can help” says Trammell.
FOX 31's GOOD DAY meteorologist Mat Ortiz won the race and finished in 18 minutes and 36 seconds.
