Every nine minutes, another woman is victim to domestic violence
If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse, call the Liberty House crisis line at 439-7065
Folks came together Thursday night to celebrate those who have survived domestic violence and remember those who did not.
The Liberty House aimed to shine a light on domestic violence. They say it remains to be a silent killer--even for young children.
Calandra Jefferson with Liberty House says often times the first thing a man will tell you after he hits you is "I’m sorry" or "it will never happen again", but she says once is one time too many.
“That's your lifetime partner. That's supposed to be your support system. That's supposed to be the angel that holds you every night. And if it's not, I’m sorry to say, that's your devil in your life,” Said Jefferson.
October is national domestic violence awareness month.
