Commissioners unanimously agree to sponsor the “Familywize” program
ALBANY GA -- Dougherty County Commissioners unanimously agreed to sponsor the "Familywize" discount drug card program through the United Way of Southwest Georgia.
The focus of the discount prescription card is to provide discounts for people who are uninsured or underinsured.
The program reports an average savings of 30% or more on prescription drugs and can be used at approximately 95% of pharmacies throughout the nation.
Commissioners say the free discount card will ease the financial strain a lot of people feel when filling prescriptions.
The plan meets the commission’s requirements that the plan not lock them into a contract and also have no mail order.
The card will be available soon in public locations.
