Kaije McDougald shot and killed 8-year-old Bakari McDougald and 15-year-old Quentin Grimsley before killing himself
COLQUITT COUNTY, GA -- Funerals will take place Tuesday for the victims in a double-murder/suicide that happened Monday in Colquitt County.
The gunman, Kaije McDougald, will be laid to rest first. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. at Greater Newton Grove Baptist Church.
At 4 p.m., a funeral will be held for McDougald’s son and stepson at Mother Easter Baptist Church. Investigators say McDougald shot and killed 8-year-old Bakari McDougald and 15-year-old Quentin Grimsley before shooting himself.
All three will be buried at St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2.
Colquitt County deputies responded to a domestic violence call Monday night at the McDougalds’ home on Cool Breeze Drive. They found McDougald and the two boys dead.
Investigators said Angela McDougald, Kaije McDougald’s wife and mother of both boys, and her husband had been arguing prior to the shootings. She escaped, and he apparently shot himself.
An account is set up at Colony Bank in Angela McDougald’s maiden name — Angela Scott — to help cover expenses.
Angela McDougald is a school resource officer at C.A. Gray Junior High School and Grimsley was a student there. Kaije McDougald was an instructional provider at Stringfellow Elementary School, where his son Bakari attended.
