Dove season kicks off Saturday in Georgia
ALBANY, GA -- Get out your camouflage and shotguns; Saturday is opening day of dove season. Officials with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources say this is one of the biggest hunting weekends of the year. About ten thousand people will be hunting around Georgia for opening day.
DNR Ranger Randy James says with so many people going out to the fields, there’s a greater chance for accidents. “I tell folks you know try to shoot above the tree line. If you see sky shoot, if you start seeing trees you're probably too low, you don’t need to shoot,” says James.
Rangers also advise hunters to spread out around the fields in order to lower the chances of hitting another person. They also advise hunters to stay hydrated in the hot weather.
