ALBANY, GA. -- Dougherty County Police arrested a wanted child molester Monday night. They got a tip that 32-year-old Thomas Ray Stone was hiding at 217 Solomon Circle. Officers say Stone was threatening to kill himself when they arrived, however a relative talked him out of it.

DCPD Chief Don Cheek says Stone also had an outstanding warrant in Lee County because he failed to register as a convicted sex offender. “We’ve got an active program statewide on registered sex offenders and it's crucial for the safety of the children in our communities. If we don't know where they are, these people are unbelievably dangerous,” says Cheek

Stone is charged with absconding, child molestation, and probation violation; police say more charges are pending.
