Ousted USDA worker Shirley Sherrod rejects return to Ag agency
Shirley Sherrod declines an offer to return to the USDA
ATLANTA -- Ousted U.S. Agriculture Department official Shirley Sherrod will not accept an offer to return to fulltime work at the agency, reported WAGA FOX 5 in Atlanta.
Sherrod, the former USDA director of rural development in Georgia, was forced to resign after a conservative blogger posted snippets of a speech in which Sherrod appeared to make racist remarks. USDA Director Tom Vilsack and the NAACP condemned the remarks before grasping the full context of the story, which was meant as a lesson in racial healing, reported FOX 5.
