Authorities have targeted dozens of sex offenders suspected of failing to comply with Georgia's strict registration laws
ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities have targeted dozens of sex offenders suspected of failing to comply with Georgia's strict registration laws.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Marshal's Service and the state Department of Corrections Friday said the three-day sex offender round-up was aimed at sex offenders who absconded from the registry.
Sheriff Ted Jackson said more than 100 law enforcement officers also conducted compliance checks on registered sex offenders — the first operation of its kind in Fulton County.
Authorities say at least 57 sex offenders were located, and many were arrested and booked into the Fulton County Jail.
