Lee County Commissioners held a special meeting to establish the county's new tax rate, and there’s good news for residents
LEESBURG, GA -- Lee County Commissioners held a special meeting to establish the county's new tax rate, and there’s good news for residents. Commissioners unanimously approved a millage rate; it’s the same as last year, 12.7 mills.
Lee County Board of Tax Assessor’s Chief Appraiser Joe Wright says this means property taxes will stay the same. “It’s good that the board of commissioners could maintain the same millage rate although we saw a net decrease in the digest. It’s unfortunate that we didn't see an overall increase, and it actually could have been a lot worse” says Wright
Officials say Lee County hasn't seen a digest decrease in about five or six years.
