The latest heat wave is expected to bring temperatures in the upper 90s to about 100 to most of Georgia.
ATLANTA (AP) -- In metro Atlanta, a high temperature in the upper 90s is forecast for Thursday, not quite the record for the date of 100 set in 1986 but well above normal.
The National Weather Service says it could reach 100 in other parts of north Georgia, with Columbus and Athens listed among the cities that could reach the triple-digit mark. Even in the north Georgia mountains readings are expected to get well into the 90s.
A little relief is expected in the next few days, with temperatures a little cooler and a chance of showers.
