Police Chief John Proctor is requesting money for high tech tools for officers

The Albany Police Chief presented his budget to the City Commission Tuesday.

The police department is requesting a budget that's nearly $16 million. In it, Chief John Proctor has included items such as computers and programs for patrol cars to allow officers to file reports quickly into the system. The reports would also be immediately available to citizens.

“They are to make the police department a little bit more modern and to bring us into the future. The hope is to utilize the items I proposed to help us work smarter and more efficient,” Said Chief Proctor.

Currently, officers must type up reports back at the station and have another staff member upload it to the system which can take days.

The City will vote on the budget June 30th.
