In the last six years, Albany has managed to lower property taxes four times

Albany property owners could see a little relief this next fiscal year in terms of their property taxes.

City Finance Director Kris Newton says in 2008, the property tax was 9.157%. This year it is expected to go down to 8.6%.

“Per household, if you have a $100,000 home it would save you just under $20, about $19.88. For a $200,000 home, double that, about $39 and some change,” Said Newton.

The decrease is due to the approval of a half mill decrease in this year's budget for the City.
