More than a dozen vehicles are involved in multiple accidents on the Liberty Expressway

Cars, vans, a Fed Ex delivery truck, and a police cruiser were involved in multiple accidents Thursday evening that shut down the Liberty Expressway.

Police say no one was seriously injured although some people suffered minor scrapes, bruises, and burns.  The expressway was closed at the Jefferson Street exit in order to clear the accidents before allowing regular traffic patterns.

Officials say the rain played a key factor in the accidents.
