Firefighters say the house in the 2500 block of East Doublegate Drive is a total loss
Fire investigators are still trying to figure out what started a fire in northwest Albany Sunday night.
Firefighters say the house in the 2500 block of East Doublegate Drive is a total loss. The fire broke out around 6 p.m. Sunday in the attic, and it burned for several hours.
“As hot as it gets in the attic, generally it’s a fast moving fire, so you’re kind of playing catch up when you get there,” said Assistant Fire Chief Allen Cravey. “It got ahead of us and we could never catch up to it.”
The estimated damage is between $250,000 and $300,000.
