The Red Cross says they’re in dire need of blood donations before the new year

Red Cross officials say only 38% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood, and the need for blood increases around the holidays.

Local officials predict that with the new year fast approaching, accidents and car wrecks will spike the local need for blood.

The Albany Red Cross blood donation center at 1515 Dawson Road accepts walk-ins 7 days a week.
