(AP) -- Police say a shootout in Cobb County has left one person dead and two more injured.

Police spokesman Officer Joseph Hernandez tells the Atlanta Journal -Constitution that a man and his wife returned to their home around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.  As they got out of their car, two men with guns approached them.  Hernandez says the husband and both attackers were hit during an ensuing shootout. One attacker remained on the scene, while the other fled. 

Hernandez says the homeowner and the suspect who stayed at the scene were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. The other suspect later showed up at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta.  One of the suspects later died, but Hernandez says it isn't clear which one. 

Police haven't identified either suspect, and charges are pending.
