The Speaker of the House resigned after allegations he had an affair and attempted suicide
Rep. Glenn Richardson (R)
Georgia House Republicans plan to meet Friday to discuss new leadership in light of the Glenn Richardson scandal.
The Speaker of the House resigned after allegations he had an affair and attempted suicide. The second in line for the speaker title has said he doesn't want the job so now republicans are meeting to figure out who is interested in leadership positions.
“We were all shocked obviously there's some issues there,” said State Representative Ed Rynders who represents parts of Dougherty and Lee Counties. “The Speaker's been in our thoughts and our prayers, both he and his family, but what we got to do is we got to stay focused and not become distracted.”
Richardson's resignation is effective January 1.
