Butterflies were released Saturday at the Ray Charles Plaza in memory of victims of domestic violence.

The event was meant to kickoff Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In addition to remembering victims of domestic violence, the event also honored those who have survived domestic violence and to create awareness and educate others. Butterflies signify freedom of the spirit, said Silke Deely, Executive Director of the Liberty House.

This is their third annual butterfly release.
